Commodore Hotel

Evicted once more because of noise in August of 1922, Scott and Zelda and baby moved to the recently opened Commodore Hotel, 79 Western Avenue North.  It offered apartment accommodations, a dining room, a ballroom and, in the basement, a speakeasy.  (The elegant Art Deco bar was not installed until 1936.)  Currently, the Commodore offers condominiums.  The Fitzgeralds left St. Paul for the last time in the Fall, going to New York to celebrate the publication of The Beautiful and the Damned.
