Fitzgerald was enrolled in St. Paul Academy located at Dale and Portland Avenues. In the fall of 1908 he published his first stories in NOW and THEN, the school magazine. (This 1916 photo by Haynes gives an idea of the size and ages of the student body in Fitzgerald's time.) He also began writing plays for the Elizabethan Dramatic Club, a neighborhood thespian group.
