633 Fairmount Avenue

Another prominent political figure lived in the neighborhood.  Frank B. Kellogg, a practicing attorney, built his Sioux quartzite Romanesque Revival home at 633 Fairmount in 1889. The Sanborn Insurance Atlas lists it as “faced,” that is, with roof and walls supported by an interior framework.  The massive blocks, and a variety of wood and shingle materials, actually “wrap” the front and sides of the building protectively and decoratively.
